Choice and Demand Modeling: Latest Approaches
Prof. Asim M. Ansari
William T. Dillard Professor of Marketing at Columbia Business School.
Ph.D. Seminar
November, 11th-13th, 2010
Location: HIM-Pav-B
V-Nr.: 4100
Course Description:
The seminar will cover topics in choice modeling for panel data and demand analysis for differentiated product markets. We will study conventional models such as the multinomial logit, multinomial probit, multivariate probit models and models of multiple discreteness in panel data settings and their estimation using hierarchical Bayesian methods. We will also study how customer heterogeneity and endogeneity of price and other variables can be accommodated in such econometric models using both structural (i.e., models of the supply side) and reduced-form (instrumental variables and control function) approaches.
