Daniel Chiacchia
Daniel is a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Organizational Behaviour at the University of Zurich. He studies how people communicate during difficult, emotionally charged events. On the surface, it may seem that words are inconsequential in these moments; indeed, no special phrase can reverse a loss or hardship. Yet, his work reveals that what people say profoundly shapes our workplace relationships, the decisions we make, the ideas we implement, and our resilience in the face of setbacks. Daniel’s research has been published in top outlets such as the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology and has been profiled in popular press, including Psychology Today.
Daniel completed his PhD in Organizational Behaviour and Human Resource Management at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. His dissertation examined when ‘focusing on the positive’ helps versus harms, and how supportive communication is most effective when it meets a deeper psychological need. At the University of Zurich, Daniel teaches Leadership to graduate students and is a member of the Center for Leadership in the Future of Work.
