Personnel & Leadership
The Personnel & Leadership Group examines how people learn, work, and lead in modern organizations and labor markets. Our research spans topics such as leadership effectiveness, motivation, lifelong skill development, and career choices across people, education, and work contexts.
Our members bring expertise from diverse scholarly fields, including leadership, human resource management, organizational behavior, applied micro- and behavioral economics, business and managerial economics, education and labor economics, and social psychology. We draw on a diverse methodological toolkit: rigorously designed experiments, real-world field studies, large-scale archival and administrative data analyses, large language models (LLMs), and qualitative and mixed-method investigations.
The group also hosts two research centers:
- The Swiss Leading House VPET-ECON
Economics of Education, Firm Behavior and Training Policies - The Center for Leadership in the Future of Work
In our teaching, we aim to equip current and future leaders with the analytical tools, knowledge, and skills needed to understand and address contemporary challenges in organizations and labor markets.
