Smarter Shared Mobility: Optimizing Efficiency and Sustainability in On-Demand Transportation

On April 24, Prof. Dr. Uta Mohring gave a talk on the key challenges and future directions in shared mobility from the perspective of operations management at the DSI Mobility Community Meeting. In her talk, she focused on two important shared-mobility services: vehicle sharing and ride hailing.

She gave a comprehensive overview of the main strategic and operational problems in both areas, discussing problems like service region design, fleet sizing, repositioning, matching policies, rider pricing, and driver wage policies. She concluded her talk by outlining several future research directions, such as the impact of autonomous driving on shared-mobility services and the potential of integrated transportation services.
