Teaching
Stochastic Models for Production Management (Lecture, spring semester)
This course provides an introduction into production management and applies models from queueing theory to solve managerial problems in production management.
Learning Goals:
- Students are able to describe and explain the fundamental concepts of production management and the types of variability in production.
- Students are able to formalize and analyze production management problems using queueing models and queueing networks.
- Students are able to apply queueing theory to analyze, discuss, and evaluate the interplay of variability and key performance indicators in various production settings and design measures for variability reduction.
Analytics for Mobility (Seminar, spring semester)
This course provides an overview of the fundamental methods in descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics as well as their application to managerial problems in urban mobility. The first set of classes are lectures providing a general introduction and an overview of potential topics. The latter set of classes are student presentations discussing recent academic publications in the field.
Learning Goals:
- Students are able to describe and explain fundamental methods of descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics.
- Students are able to discuss and evaluate the benefits and limitations of analytics to control, optimize, and redesign urban mobility.
- Students are able to study, explain, critically reflect, and evaluate the results and contributions of an academic publication.
