Prof. Jerker Denrell toHost Doctoral Mini-Course at the University of Zurich: “Fundamental Problems of Learning Systems: Applications to Organizational Learning”
Prof. Jerker Denrell, Professor of Behavioral Science at Warwick Business School, will visit the University of Zurich Business School from 6–8 May 2026. During his visit, Prof. Denrell will deliver a doctoral mini-course on “Fundamental Problems of Learning Systems: Applications to Organizational Learning.”
The course surveys fundamental issues in learning systems (no free lunch, overfitting, LLM biases/amplification) and links them to organizational learning (adaptation, routines, exploration-exploitation). The course is open to PhD students and researchers. Applications should be sent to chaowei.zhu@business.uzh.ch by 10 March 2026, including (1) a CV and (2) a short motivation letter (including thesis title and name of the supervisor).
Prof. Denrell’s research examines biases in decision-making, aspiration formation, and organizational learning. His work, published in AMJ, Org Sci, SMJ, and Management Science, explores “no free lunch” theorems, behavioral strategy, persistence of performance, organizational learning, and risk-taking.
