Research

At our chair, we study strategic decision making – decisions that are characterized by interdependencies between choices, actors, and outcomes. These interdependencies make strategic decisions fundamentally different from operational ones: they cannot simply be optimized with a clearly specified objective function. Instead, they involve navigating complex and often uncertain environments, which makes them a continuously fascinating and challenging field of research. Methodologically, we primarily work with experiments and quantitative data to understand how individuals and organizations make strategic choices.

Currently, our research centers on three interrelated themes: we investigate the role of AI and Human–AI ensembles in strategic decision making, explore behavioral influences in strategic decision making, and study how reference selection affects decision processes and outcomes. More on these topics can be found in the subpages.
