Short Biography
Marita Freimane joined the Professorship in Management of Digital Transformation in August 2022 as a Teaching Assistant and has been a Postdoctoral Researcher since January 2026.
Marita is an applied microeconomist working in digital and media economics, with broader interests in political economy and empirical industrial organization. Her research focuses on two main areas: (1) how platform design, competition, regulation, and business models shape online news production and quality, and (2) how online toxicity affects content creation, as well as its causes and consequences.
