- Dr. Arnab Basu is working as a permanent full-time Associate Professor of Decision Sciences at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) in India. He has been a long-term Visiting Faculty / Researcher to various universities like University of Neuchatel Switzerland, Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences Warsaw, Institute of Science and Technology Austria etc. besides here in the University of Zurich.
His primary areas of research are in Data Sciences and Applied Mathematics including but not limited to Stochastic Control and Games, Learning Theory and Multi-Agent Learning Systems, Stochastic Approximations and Dynamical Systems, Geometry of Data, and, Stochastic Filtering Theory with applications to problems in Business, Economics and Finance. He has published extensively in journals like Mathematics of Operations Research, SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, and, Stochastic Processes and Their Applications among others.
He is a Computer Scientist by training having obtained his B.S. with Honours in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur in India and his PhD in Computer and System Sciences from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Mumbai.
He is the recipient of several awards including the Infosys Research Foundation Fellowship, SAP Labs Research Innovation Award and TIFR-Sasken Best PhD Thesis Award in Mathematics and Computer Science among others.
