Course Description:
This seminar introduces Ph.D. students the recent development on empirical modeling, with the emphasis on structural models. The lectures will focus on both substantive questions and methodological issues of empirical models. The goal of this seminar is to develop the understanding and skills of the students on identifying research problems, building structural models, and implementing various estimation methods.
Required Readings:
Students are expected
to read the papers in the required reading list given below before the seminar,
participate actively in class discussions, and work hard on homework after the
seminar. Both quantity and quality of
the class participation matter. The
final grade (pass/no pass) will be determined by class participation (70%) as
well as an individual homework (30%) to be distributed during the seminar.
