Prof. Dr. Thomas Keil
 

Thomas Keil is tenured full professor and holds the Chair in International Management at the University of Zurich. Previously he taught at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at Aalto University (2006-2013), the Schulich School of Business, York University in Toronto, Canada (2002-2006) and at Helsinki University of Technology (1996-2001). Thomas holds DSc (Tech) and Lic. Tech degrees from Helsinki University of Technology and a MSc degree (Dipl.Wirsch.-Ing.) from Darmstadt University of Technology.

Thomas’ research focuses on strategic management of multinational enterprises, specifically strategic renewal and transformation, mergers and acquisitions, corporate entrepreneurship and innovation. His work has been published in leading European (e.g., Journal of Management Studies, Harvard Business Manager) and North American (e.g., Academy of Management Review, Journal of Business Venturing, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review) top journals and has won several international awards. He is a member of the editorial review boards of Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Strategic Management Journal, and Organization Science. He is also serving as a member of the National Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Thomas has taught extensively in undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs, customized executive education, MBA and Executive MBA programs in Europe and North America. He has been an active advisor to small and large corporations across a wide range of industries.

Outside work, he enjoys a happy family life with his wife Marianna, their children and their dog.
